Cloud computing is booming and there are many trends to be discussed. It had astonishing growth last year and is predicted to break its own record in the next few.
These days it’s almost impossible to find an organization that doesn’t rely at least partially on cloud services. Whether it’s application software, operating systems, databases, web servers, flexible IP addresses, VPNs, VLANs and so on — the cloud seems to offer it all.
Current trends:
- The global cloud computing market is forecast to go over $1,025 billion by 2026.
- As much as 80% of organizations are predicted to migrate toward the cloud by 2025
- IaaS is expected to reach $82 billion worldwide by 2022.
- As many as 84% of enterprises run on a multi-cloud strategy
But why is cloud computing made so popular?

Well, it enables both users and enterprises to run software without installing it, offers redundancy, stability, flexibility and security. Cloud computing eliminates the problem of buying and maintaining hardware and in more cases even of buying and maintaining low-level software.
The cloud also gives us the opportunity to access content from basically anywhere. Generally, it is more affordable, which makes it suitable for businesses of any size. Naturally, there are cloud products designed for businesses of any size.
Thus cloud computing growth is inevitable.
Public cloud is a computing service that is offered by third-party providers for relatively low cost. It is available to anyone willing to use it. More and more enterprises are turning to the public cloud.
The 2021 trend of cloud computing results show that enterprises continue to embrace multi-cloud and hybrid cloud strategies and are increasing spend with vendors across the board, citing a higher-than-expected cloud usage due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions throughout 2020.

The Flexera 2021 State of the Cloud Report (previously known as the RightScale State of the Cloud Report) reveals cloud computing trends — from spend allocation to cost management to strategies.

The most interesting thing here is that there are also another trend inside — more and more businesses migrate from private (in-house) solutions to hybrid and, afterwards, public cloud services

As a result 61% of organizations plan to optimize existing use of cloud (cost savings), making it the top initiative for the fifth year in a row.
To grow an efficiency and scalability 92% of respondents reported having a multi-cloud strategy. Eighty-two percent (!) are already taking a hybrid approach, combining the use of both public and private cloud. It’s just amazimg!

Howewer, hybrid cloud strategies are preferred by companies for nowadays. Hybrid cloud usage is also expected to grow in the next years. Meanwhile, private cloud usage fell with 2% in 2019, it keeps falling and there’s no growth predicted for the next year.
According to Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT) forecast IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services had grew by 19.2%-38.49% from 2020 to 2021 and keep growing as for more than 30% Y2Y. In 2022 Public Cloud Services market whould show about 397.5 Billions of U.S. Dollars spending level.

Cyber security (and data compiance) becomes and increasingly big spend for many organizations. Well-designed cloud infrastructure mitigates some vulnerabilities but only in part, at least because of the growing amount of users that increase risks accordingly.
Cloud computing market estimates more than half of organizations do not have a system for monitoring, managing or securing cloud applications. In 2020–2021, 99% of the abused vulnerabilities were already been known to security and IT professionals for at least a year but ware not addressed in time. As a result, as more and more enterprises are starting to use the cloud, cybersecurity threats will increase either.
